Official Papers of Dr. Hector P. Garcia Going Digital for Ease of Access

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The papers of Dr. Hector P. Garcia, Corpus Christi physician and champion of Mexican American civil rights, will soon be easier to view from around the world as part of a processing and digitization project planned by Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The project will do more than just put the documents online, although that is a huge benefit. It will make the collection more accessible to a wider audience, preserve it for long-term viability and advance the awareness of this unique collection, said Library Director Dr. Catherine Rudowsky.

The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector's Journey

This book presents the artifacts, relics, and documents that compose Phil Collins' collection. It is available in a beautifully designed color book shot-through with stunning photography and crisply rendered illustrations. Collins’s prose takes the reader through the joys of being a collector as he lovingly describes what each piece in this impressive assemblage means to him. Photographer Ben Powell of Austin brought these items to vivid relief, and artist Gary Zaboly’s masterful pen-and-ink drawings breath life into the items.
