Students will examine the background of men who participated in the Convention of 1836 and explain how they impacted Texas declaring independence from Mexico.
The students will learn facts and opinions given by William Fairfax Gray in his diary and will use prior knowledge to compare/contrast ideas expressed in his diary.
The student will learn how La Salle impacted the settlement of Texas and the establishment of Catholic missions in Texas and will write a letter from the perspective of an explorer.
The student will understand why most Texians wanted to be free from the rule of Mexico. The student will understand major events that fueled the Revolution.
