 An annual free daylong cultural and educational event of speakers, programs, demonstrations, music, and exhibits which expand on a different theme each year.  This event is reminiscent of the old Chautauqua held in Waxahachie 1900-1930.   This event is held on September 30 every year at the Historic Chautauqua Auditorium and the surrounding area in Waxahachie, Texas.
William McWhorter, Texas Historical Commission’s Military Oral History Coordinator, will teach a workshop designed for people to learn how to conduct, record, and transcribe all types of oral histories, including hands-on training with digital and video recording equipment. It will be held in the Austin History Center, Holt Gallery/Reception Room, on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 1 - 4 pm.

Living History Presentations by John Potter Jr. Mr. Potter has several personas, such as a frontiersman, a townsman, or a new orleans grey.  Each persona has been carefully researched and each has its own story. Mr. Potter is able to bring history to life in the classroom.

Each spring break and summer, Education in Action offers the Lone Star Leadership Academy program to outstanding 4th-8th grade students. Participants travel to Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin or Houston/Galveston to develop leadership skills and experience what they are learning in school through visits to significant Texas sites.
