Tejano Activism and Change

The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures has distributed lesson plans based off of the keynotes, breakout sessions, and fieldnotes of the SA300 institute for educators. In this lesson, students create a visual timeline of the life of Tejano activist Emma Tenayuca and another visual timeline about a Tejano activist of their choosing. The lesson helps students to gain skills in developing research questions and research methodology. By the end of the lesson, students are expected to understand that the history of Tejano activism has included quests for educational rights and equal protection under the law.
