Museum Exhibit or ProgramOn Saturday, May 13th from 12-1, historians and archivist present a workshop for learning about personal histories, especially for those family histories fragmented by slavery. Maria Hammack from The University of Texas at Austin and Ashley Stevens from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission share resources and insight into the records and history of enslaved men and women in Texas and Mexico. This program will be held in conjunction with the exhibition Purchased Lives: The American Slave Trade from 1808 to 1865 which examines the domestic slave trade - a racialized system of bondage under which million of men, women, and children lived and labored.
