Educator Workshop: Contemporary Connections to Ancient Americas

Staff DevelopmentThis educator Workshop, sponsored by the San Antonio Museum of Art, will highlight the connections of our modern times to Ancient Americas by helping in deciphering indigenous legacies through Aztec codices and the symbolism of color. Body/face painting is one way in which the ritual nature of Mesoamerican life is still present and preserved in today's popular culture. It will utilize art in The Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art, with educator/artivist Laura Yohuatlahuiz Rios Ramirez to create personal imagery inspired by the living and thriving traditions of Anahuac.
